Oceanway Ride is proudly known in 2016, its first year, as Jewel Residences Oceanway Ride. Our social media team had a chat to our Official partner about what they bring to the Gold Coast and the Oceanway Ride event.
Q: Jewel Residences is a new iconic place for the Gold Coast. Where is it located and what does it offer to both local residents and national/international guests?
A: The Jewel Residences – 512 luxuriously-appointed apartments combined with a five and a half star, Wanda Vista Hotel – is rising on a 1.13 hectare parcel of land, right on the beachfront where the hustle and bustle meets the coffee culture of Broadbeach.
Jewel’s triple towers will be the premier destination to live and play, with unparalleled luxury and world-class amenities, on an almost unheard-of, 130 metre-wide beach frontage.
Imagine waking up every day in absolute extravagance, with uninterrupted views over the Pacific Ocean. After a decadent breakfast, you take a short stroll through soaring, open-air crystal corridors, surrounded by cascading waterfalls complete with lush, tropical foliage, before stepping onto the Gold Coast’s most famous asset – its white, sandy beach?
This will become reality for only the select few who will call Jewel home when it opens in the first quarter of 2019.
With its vibrant, sculptural forms and luxuriously appointed finishes, the Gold Coast’s first truly beachfront development in more than 30 years is the property opportunity on everyone’s lips.
Q. Why was the Gold Coast chosen for the location for Jewel Residences?
A. The Jewel developers have chosen the Gold Coast’s iconic shoreline as one of the most lucrative hot spots for capital growth in the coming years. It is a city that is coming of age, and the Jewel development is sending a clear message to the world that the Gold Coast is back in business, and is better than ever.
The Gold Coast is the sixth largest city in Australia with an economy worth more than $25 billion, and is one of the most bio-diverse in the country, and the timing for an upswing is better than ever. The city has been a prime location for property growth in recent times, and is gaining momentum faster than anywhere else in the state.
In order to set Jewel apart from the rest of Australia, the developers have capitalised on the Gold Coast’s main drawcard – its alluring beach culture and celebrated sunshine. However, Jewel will complement these natural assets with opulence on a scale never attempted before.
Joint venture partners Wanda Ridong knew that only the most remarkable and avant-garde structure could befit the rare 1.13 hectare parcel of beachfront land, due to its extraordinary 130 metre wide beach frontage and supreme location, so the three Jewel towers will create an unrivalled Queensland experience by giving residents the unprecedented opportunity to live an extravagant life while also being able to walk from their apartment directly onto the world’s most celebrated beaches.
Q. As the official partner of Oceanway Ride, why did Jewel Residences want to be involved with this new event? What involvement will you have?
A. We are proud to partner with the inaugural Oceanway Ride, which we believe will become an integral part of the ‘new’ Gold Coast. While we are embarking on very different projects, we share a view of the remarkable offerings that make this city an icon, and are both committed to growing and supporting the local community.
With a line-up of fantastic attractions for the weekend, including a Jewel VIP ride with the voice of racing, Phil Liggett, the Jewel Residences Oceanway Ride will be an event to remember!
Q. Jewel Residences is in development now and construction has started. Will bike riders be able to see the location as they are participating in the Oceanway Ride?
You can’t miss us! With at least five cranes in the sky, the development site is an absolute hub of activity. After pouring the foundations in June, she’s now heading skyward! You can see the development site on the Ultimate Ride along Old Burleigh Road in Surfers Paradise.
Q. Jewel Residences is presenting the VIP Ride Experience Private Ride with Phil Liggett. How does this experience fit with the Jewel philosophy and brand?
A. Phil Liggett is the best in the business. He is the voice of cycling – the commentator for the most elite and grueling cycling event in the world – and one of the most influential experts in his field.
The developer behind the Jewel project is also the best in the business. As the biggest owner of five-star hotels, movie theatres and commercial property in the world, and the biggest property developer in China, the Dalian Wanda Group is the most influential property group in the world.
Q. The design is quite spectacular, tell us about how the architectural design of the space originated.
A. The volcanic forces that have shaped the city so dramatically created a foundation of solid basalt which lies around 40 metres below the world-famous beaches. Over time, the interaction of salt water and sand have created awe-inspiring crystals deep below the surface of the city. Three of these unique and beautiful smoky quartz crystals became the inspiration for the Jewel development.
The initial design narrative was a collaboration between renowned Florida architect Chad Oppenheim and International award-winning, Gold Coast DBI Design Director of Design Barry Lee, who at one stage even scanned the crystals in 3D to ensure maximum precision.
The end result is three crystalline towers that will appear as if they have simply emerged from the sands below, through the use of a unique cladding technique that will create an almost mirage-like façade that will stand as a beacon for maritime traffic on the Nerang River and out to sea.
Q. When is Jewel Residences expected to be finished and how can people find out more?
A. The project is due to be open in the first quarter of 2019. Jewel immersive experience centre is located in the heart of Surfers Paradise, on the ground floor of the Hilton Hotel in Cavill Lane – between Orchid Avenue and Surfers Paradise Boulevard.
